Support Uyghurs Foundation

Abdurehim Gheni, founder of the Support Uyghur Foundation, has been demonstrating alone since 2018 after his 19 family members went missing during the Chinese Uyghur Genocide. He established the Uyghur Support Foundation with supporters to aid the Uyghur community.

Abdurehim Gheni has not had any contact with his 19 family members in East Turkestan since May 23, 2017. Gheni has been protesting alone in Amsterdam’s Dam Square, as well as in front of the Dutch Parliament, the Chinese Embassy in the Netherlands, the Eiffel Tower in France, and the UN building in Geneva. Despite his efforts, he has yet to hear from his family.

Gheni has sought assistance from the Dutch King, the Dutch Prime Minister, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. In response, the Chinese Embassy in the Netherlands contacted him for more information about the identity of his family members. Gheni provided the details, but has not received any further communication.

On August 14, 2020, Gheni protested alone in front of the Chinese Embassy in the Hague, demanding the life status of his 19 family members. He was arrested by Dutch police and released two hours later with a fine of 1,000 euros.

Days later, Gheni received a call from his younger brother, Abdukerim Gheni, who told him to contact the Chinese police. Abdurehim was later informed that five of his family members had been sentenced to prison for 3 to 16 years on various charges, while the others were allegedly “living freely”. However, Gheni has not been able to establish contact with any other family members.

Abdurehim Gheni remains skeptical of the Chinese government’s claims regarding the freedom of the remaining 14 family members. He questions why the authorities do not allow his relatives to be contacted by phone if they are indeed free.

Unfortunately, Gheni's situation is not unique…

The disappearance of his 19 family members is emblematic of the experiences of millions of Uyghurs subjected to genocide by the Chinese government.

As Abdurehim Gheni continues to fight for answers, he asks the Chinese government once more, “Where are my 19 family members?” The world watches, as the chilling reality of the Uyghur crisis unfolds.

His disappeared family is a living example of the millions of Uyghurs who disappeared during the Chinese government’s genocide.

In order to carry out the activities of the ring in a more organized and systematic way, together with his supporters, he established a support organization for Uyghurs as uyghur support foundation.

Abdurehim Gheni’s journey is a reminder that one person’s determination can make a world of difference. By standing together, we can contribute to ending the suffering of the Uyghur community and bringing those responsible for their plight to justice.
